Although the toll-free telephone network is designed to handle huge volumes of calls simultaneously, there may be times (particularly just after the broadcast) when the system will not be able to handle every single call to How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? due to the sheer volume.
Waiting for non-peak times before calling increases your chances of successfully voting for your favourite Maria via the toll-free numbers. If you still have problems, contact your local phone company, but note that in most, if not all cases, it may be due to the high volume of calls being made on the network.

If you do not hear a dial tone, do not hang up and try again immediately. Rather, wait until you hear a dial tone; this will maintain your priority in the queue. Waiting to hear a dial tone keeps your line ready for the next dial tone that becomes available.

Voting opens at the end of the show in your time zone. Voting hours are set to ensure that
the whole country has a chance to pick their favourite Maria. Limits are in place on the
number of votes each person can cast to ensure that no one has an unfair advantage.
Why does my vote matter if one Maria gets “saved” at the end of the results show?![]()
Your vote DOES matter. Throughout the season your votes will determine who remains on the show and who is in the bottom two.
Although Simon or Andrew will give one Maria a second chance at the end of each results show, on finale night, the contestant who receives the most votes from the Canadian public will become the next Maria.

Why does it cost me 50 cents to vote with my cell phone when every other voting channel is free?![]()
We are offering a number of ways to cast your vote. In order to offset some of the costs associated with providing these choices to Canadians votes cast via text message will be subject to a .50-cent fee per text message.
I tried voting online, but, it keeps telling me that I’ve exceeded the maximum amount
of votes for this show. I haven’t voted once yet; are you trying to force me to vote via
text message just to make money? ![]()
Online voting is limited to 10 votes per IP address. If you are on a network that shares an IP
address with other computers (like a wireless network in your home, dorm or internet café) this message is telling you that 10 votes have already been cast by the other people on your
network.
You can always call our toll-free number from a landline to vote for your favourite Maria.
Why can’t I call the toll free number to cast my vote with my cell phone?![]()
The technology used by most mobile phone carriers isn’t able to transmit your phone’s number through to a toll free number; since your phone number can’t be recognized by the system, your vote can’t be placed.
