Facts About Kathmandu

Kathmandu is the capital and largest city in Nepal with one million inhabitants. The name comes from two Sanskrit words- Kanti and pur. "Kanti" is an alternate name of the Goddess Lakshmi, and "pur" means place.

Over half a million foreigners visit Kathmandu yearly. Tourism is one of Nepal's most important industries.
