Riding Profile:This riding has existed since the 1958 election. The eastern Winnipeg riding runs from Springfield Road in the north to Niakwa in the south, from Panet/Molson in the west to Plessis Rd./Hoka/the city limits in the east. The CNR Symington Yards are in the southern part of the riding. The population in 2001 was 20,385. The average family income was $64,538, with an unemployment rate of 4.2 per cent. The main industry was manufacturing (14%) followed by retail (11%). |
