Tom Nevakshonoff (NDP)
This riding has existed since 1981, and has been NDP since then. It's in central Manitoba, between Lake Winnipeg makes to the east Lake Manitoba to the west. The Swan River riding is to its north and Lakeside to the south. The communities in this riding include Arborg, Riverton, Ashern, and Hecla. The Black and Deer islands are also in this riding. The riding was one of the three involved in the 1995 vote-splitting scandal.
The population in 2001 was 18,740. The average family income was $39,825, with an unemployment rate of 12 per cent. Agriculture was the main industry in 2001, employing 25 per cent of all workers.

|1981||With the riding of St. George eliminated, NDP Uruski, who had been elected in St. George in 1969, 1973 and 1977, ran in the new riding and defeated PC Neil Dueck by 2,418 votes.|
