The $10 Garage Sale Challenge
Wendy Sawatzky, CBC News Online | May 9

Politicians are quick to talk about how they'll spend our money, but what are their spending habits REALLY like?

CBC Manitoba held its annual garage sale, with all proceeds going to Winnipeg Harvest, on May 9.

We gave three of the men who want to be premier $10 each, and asked them to spend the money however they wanted.

Here's what they bought and what they had to say about their spending habits:

NDP leader Gary Doer

"I was brought up as slave labour to haul books around for my mother, and it's Mother's Day this weekend, and this is one way I can continue her wonderful memory."

PC leader Stuart Murray

"I've got this wonderful Aerosmith Draw the Line album … I do have a background in rock 'n' roll."

Liberal leader Jon Gerrard

"I think it's important that we've got a piggy bank, from a government perspective."
