Q Ballet is a local dance company named for choreographer Peter Quanz, an alumnus of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. He started the company in 2010 as an outlet for creating new works.
Quanz is all about experimentation. He describes the company as a "dance laboratory." And raw experimentation is what you're going to get as the nine dancers present three brand new pieces June 8 - 10 at the Gas Station Theatre.
One dance features RWB Principal Dancer Vanessa Lawson in a work Quanz created especially for her. And cellist Minna Rose Chung will also be on stage to perform two of the works.
Quanz has choreographed for some of the world's leading ballet companies, including the Kirov Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal and of course the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.
