David Steinberg added to the Winnipeg Comedy Festival lineup

Former Winnipegger David Steinberg is coming home to take the stage at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival.

Steinberg has come a long way since growing up in Winnipeg's North End in the '40's.  He's been making people laugh on everything from the Smothers Brothers to Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm to Carson.  In January 2012 he launched the series Inside Comedy, on Showtime in the U.S.

Steinberg will host the Festival's Saturday gala, April 13, at Pantages Playhouse. The Chosen Show  lineup  includes Jewish comics Perry Perlmutar, Stevie Ray Fromstein and Judy Gold.

There is even more star power on the way.  Reality TV vixen Shannon Tweed takes the stage April 13, to host a gala performance that includes Scott Thompson and Sean Cullen.   Maybe Tweed will bring along hubbie Gene Simmons.   After all, he has the keys to the city now. 

Also new for this year's Festival:

Michael Winslow, of Police Academy fame,  has just been added to the roster.  And the show Eat! Drink! Laugh! is a brand new fundraiser that gives fans a chance at a dinner date with a Festival comic.  All the funds raised go to the Gas Station Arts Centre.
