Steve Patterson at Just for Laughs Festival, 2010, nominated for a Gemini Award
When you ask for a beer in Ireland, they assume you mean Guinness. What most people don't know is that 'stout' is a gaelic word that means 'roast beef.' It's a pint-size glass of gravy with mashed potatoes on top. - Steve Patterson
A double decker bus full of British comics rolls into Winnipeg, promising to leave you doubled over with laughter. It's part of the Just for Laughs Comedy Tour and Steve Patterson of The Debaters serves as host.
This British edition of the tour features some of the funniest men from across the pond, including Matt Kirshen who was a finalist on NBC's Last Comic Standing; Stephen K. Amos; Sean Meo, Time Out Comedian of the Year; Perrier Award nominated Terry Alderton; and hip hop act Abandoman.
Patterson has been hosting The Debaters since 2007, reaching more than half a million listeners each week. As of September 14th, the program now airs on CBC Television as well.
This year, after two previous nominations, he won the Canadian Comedy Award as Canada's best male stand-up comic. He also hosted the awards event on October 17th.
