Seal remains near Pond Inlet, Nunavut (Tanya Tagaq)
It was my first time in Pond Inlet, and I recall it made me sad to see that my family had been moved from one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen
—Tanya Tagaq, throat singer
As part of the National Parks Project, Inuk throat singer Tanya Taqaq and Andrew Whiteman and Dean Stone of Apostle of Hustle headed North. They were joined by Inuk filmmaker Zacharias Kunuk in Eclipse Sound north of Baffin Island in Nunavut. There, they made music and Kunuk shot an award-winning film inspired by the environment.
That's also where Tagaq took this memorable photo. SCENE asked her to tell us about it:
This is a seal that we caught and ate near Pond Inlet while partaking in the National Parks Project.
