The third annual ManyFest is coming up in September and will take over Broadway in Winnipeg's downtown for a full weekend of activities. The street will even be renamed "ManyFest Way" during the festivities.
Visitors will be able to sample offerings from 15 food trucks (Downtown BIZ)
New this year will be the Food Truck Wars, which will see 10 to15 food trucks offering samples of their wares through the weekend.
People will buy tickets and sample an array of cuisine, from Filipino, to Mexican to Montreal-inspired poutine. At the end of the weekend, people can vote on their favourites and awards will be handed out.
Stefano Grande is the executive director of Downtown BIZ, he says in the past few years more high caliber food trucks have been opening up downtown and this is a great way to introduce all Winnipeggers to more mobile meal options.
"Most Winnipeggers don't really know the high cuisine, the food that's offered through food trucks," he says. "Downtown is a happening place and the food trucks are part of that experience and we're going to bring that experience to Winnipeggers at ManyFest."
Also look for culture and music day and night on two stages, a movie in
Memorial Park, a festival of lights, farmers' and artisans' markets,
dancing in the streets and a beer and wine event.
As in previous
years, there will be lots of healthy living activities, like relays and
races, wall climbing and Ciclovia for those fans of bicycles and roller
blades. On Sunday, Broadway will be car-free all the way to Assiniboine
Park.ManyFest takes place on Broadway September 6 - 8.
