Raku originated in Japan in the 16th century. It involves glazing
pottery, firing it -- often over open flames - and plunging the pieces
into cold water. The results are unpredictable and stunning.
Winnipegger Steve Robinson has been firing Raku for over 30 years.
For Robinson "there's no end in sight... I'd like to complete that ultimate piece of Raku...a quest in a sense. I do want to get to that ultimate piece, and I don't want to get to it. If I do -- I'm through."
