The news just keeps getting better for Winnipeggers Lisanne Pajot and James Swirsky, the creators of Indie Game: The Movie.
Their documentary premiered on Friday at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival. On
Sunday, January 22nd, the news was leaked that HBO has optioned the
film for a possible re-make into a television series. The series would
be produced by Scott Rudin - the producer of The Social Network, True Grit, Moneyball, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
"We are ecstatic about the possibilities of working with this team, report Pajot and Swirsky. "All you need to do is look at the list of HBO series titles & Scott Rudin's IMDB and you can see why we think this is a brilliant thing. We want to see this show happen. We want to watch this show."
This great news comes hot on the heels of what the pair call "their best review yet" by Indiewired.com. The review calls it "possibly the most mature look at video games yet, and a fine documentary in its own right." It says it serves "a powerful document for why games deserve consideration as a legitimate artform."
The documentary gets its Winnipeg screening is February 3rd at the Winnipeg Art Gallery. The directors will be present.
