Chef Ben Kramer at work in the kitchen of Raw: Almond, the pop-up restaurant on the River Trail. (Dwayne Larson)
To be honest, we're not entirely sure when Ben Kramer has time to update his Playlist or listen to any music at all. Maybe he doesn't sleep.
Because in addition to feeding 4000 people a day at the University of Winnipeg, the executive chef and his team at Diversity Food Services also run a very busy catering company and recently launched a line of prepared, ready to eat meals called Diversity to Go that are sold at Vita Health.
Kramer also spent a couple of nights cooking for hungry diners on a frozen river as one of the chefs involved with the pop-up restaurant, Raw: Almond. So we were curious what music he plays in the kitchen to keep everyone motivated. Here are a few of the bands in rotation on chef Ben Kramer's Playlist.
Rage Against the Machine
It's loud - fast paced and rhythmic. Sets the tone in the kitchen when we need to get sh$% done - and fast!
Non stop lyrics over great beats keeps the energy in the kitchen up - very intelligent and powerful lyrics for those who are paying attention (or who can keep up).
Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap (soundtrack)
A great mix of old school rap - has something for almost everyone.
A Tribe Called Quest
Classic, great tempo, puts smiles on our faces.
