At first Mira Black didn't believe it. A friend told her she had heard Black's song Crazy as the sound track for a video marketing Madonna's new perfume.
Black's manager confirmed that he'd submitted her song and Madonna's people had signed on to use it for Madonna Truth or Dare Fragrance Behind the Scenes.
For artists, having your song licenced for advertisements, movies or television is a dream come true. Depending on the deal, it can be lucrative or not, but it offers exposure that is sometimes priceless. People watching and hearing the song won't necessarily know who the artist is, but there's a good chance they'll recognize the music later on and be interested in hearing more of their other work.
For Black, it's all good. Having your music associated with a high profile artist such as Madonna obviously offers worldwide exposure. She also has a great deal of respect for Madonna's business savvy.
