Danny and Tricia Turner, The Young Pixels (Danny & Tricia Turner)
Music is an organic thing for The Young Pixels. Tricia and Danny Turner run an organic grain farm in Southwestern Manitoba. And in their "spare time" they make music together.
The folk-rock duo recorded three albums in their home and recently came out with a six-song EP produced at Garageland Studio in Brandon.
Manitoba Music chose The Young Pixels to be part of New Music Wednesdays, a monthly feature taking place at Ozzy's in the Osborne Hotel.
SCENE wanted to dig further into their music making on the farm:
What do farming and making music have in common ?
Both require an attitude of trust. You never know what you're going to get. We try to stay optimistic and persist.
What are the challenges of juggling a farm and a music career?
Sometimes in the ebbs and flows it feels like we have to choose one or the other, but we choose both. We just have to adapt to the times and find the right balance.
What are the seeds of your inspiration?
Love, growth and the freedom to choose our life.
Which came first? Farming? Music? Love?
Love, Music, Farming. Love is always first. Music brings us together. Farming sustains us. Its a circle. Each supports the other.
