Winnipeg's Tim Hoover is a two hat kind of guy.
He spins the best parties in the city as DJ Co-op, saucing up remixes
with plenty of mash on the side. But he has also come out with
uber-original material under his own name, having spent countless hours
layering sounds to orchestrate his debut album, More Napkins.
Released by Winnipeg's own Woven Records, one listen to More Napkins is like plugging your head into a new world of sound -- and not a creepy, fabricated Matrix-like world. The atmosphere of sounds is more of an organic discovery, like when your 3-D glasses first brought you to Pandora.

This week at Austin TX's South by Southwest
(SXSW) -- North America's mecca for musicians, filmmakers and all creative types -- Tim's Napkins
will be in full use, sopping up the crowd's love as Hoover takes advantage of being a last minute addition to Manitoba Music's SXSW showcase
"About a week before SXSW was set to begin, I got a call from Manitoba Music
saying one of the showcasing bands had to drop out, and could I do a set
of my original music at the showcase." Hoover writes from Austin. "I,
of course, was happy to jump in!"
Tim will perform on Thursday night, as part of the Manitoba Music Showcase
along with other great acts from the Peg including Canon Bros
., Chic Gamine
, Les Jupes
, Imaginary Cities
, and Royal Canoe
It will also be a relatively new experience for Hoover, who to date has only performed More Napkins
live a handful of times.
Tim Hoover hard at work (Tyler Sneesby)
original music is so different from what I play in my DJ sets" writes
Hoover. "The live shows are always an intense experience. This music
means a lot to me and I put a lot of solitary hours into producing it."
"To then take it out into the world in front of people is a real trip. I like it, but it's challenging."
For now, Tim is just taking it in. Waiting for his moment on Thursday night.
