Manitoba, we know you love a bargain. CBC is diving into the world of online music with the goal of providing
listeners access to their favourite tunes, discover new
artists and connect with fellow music fans. The brand new digital music service launches today--and CBC Music
is absolutely free.
CBC Music gives you access to 40 web radio stations, a vast
array of music, music news, stories, and videos. There's also a handy
app for all those iPhone users out there.
Along with appealing to
those stuck in front of computers all day, it's a boon for those music
fans whose favourite genre isn't present on the radio dial. If you are
crazy for jazz, nuts about electronic music, or longing for soul music
you'll find what you need. You can even listen to just Leonard Cohen
songs all day long.
CBC Manitoba SCENE staff have all been
contributing to the site, and there will be plenty of ways to see, hear,
and read about your favorite Manitoba acts. Right now you can listen to
songs from John K. Samson's latest CD
, watch videos by Imaginary Cities
, find out how Winnipeg's Marceline Moody
inspires children to reach new heights, read about a unique Manitoba book camp
for up and coming Aboriginal musicians and check out highlights of the New Music Festival
, recorded live by CBC.
we invite you to dive in and partake--whether it's pouring over the
timeline of Whitney Houston's career, finding out more about Neil Young's non-relationship with the Grammys
, or listening to the latest from
The Black Keys. And let us know what you think.
