The nominees have been announced for The 2012 JUNO Awards. Manitoba acts received eight nominations in seven of the 41 categories.
The
Wailin' Jennys lead the Manitoba pack with nominations in Roots and Traditional Album of the Year - Group and Engineer of the Year (David Travers-Smith) categories, for the group's CD
Bright Morning Stars.Winnipeg duo
Twilight Hotel is also a contender for Roots and Traditional Album of the Year while Portage la Prairie's
Doc Walker has been nominated for Country Album of the Year.
Bruthers of Different Muthers already scooped an Aboriginal People's Choice Award
Speakers of Tomorrow. Now the Winnipeg band can add a nomination for Aboriginal album of the Year.

James Ehnes gets the nod for Soloist with Large Ensemble for his
Bartok: Violin and Viola Concertos recording
. The late Ann Southam Glass House is up for Classical Composition of the Year.

The JUNO Awards take place in Ottawa this year. Events get under way on March 26 with the big awards ceremony on April 1.
Blue Rodeo will be inducted into the JUNO Hall of Fame. And William Shatner will be the host.
