"Trailbreakers" airs at 1 p.m. on CBC Radio One
Trailbreakers is about the activists and artists, educators and
innovators, chiefs and youth who are pointing a new way forward. The
four-part radio series is part of CBC's 8TH Fire
project, which looks at the relationship between Aboriginal and
non-Aboriginal Canadians and how Canada can reach a true reconciliation
with its First Peoples.
Thursday, January 19th's episode of the show looks at how art is shaking up Indian country. Host Don Kelly chats with Ron E. Scott, the creator of the controversial APTN drama Blackstone and with Vancouver artist Corinne Hunt, who designed the 2010 Vancouver Olympic medals.
Juno award winning group Burnt Project 1 created the music for Trailbreakers. This is a glimpse into what a studio session with Burnt Project 1 looks like -- minus the grass dancers.
To see more of Burnt Project 1 you can check them out Friday, January 20, when they play at Winnipeg's Le Garage.
