It's another knockout for Winnipeg's singing sensation.
Maria Aragon got to sing the Phillipine National anthem in Las Vegas before a big boxing match Saturday night.
Welterweight champion, Manny Pacquio asked Aragon to sing when he met her in the Phillipines last summer. Again, Aragon's performance was posted on You Tube.
It's been quite the week for 11-year-old Maria Aragon. She's one of Winnipeg's youngest rising stars. Yesterday, Gap released it's new campaign which features Aragon singing the hit song in the commercial, I Want Candy. "It was awesome," she reported to Ismaila Alfa this afternoon on Up to Speed. "They put us in the candy store and we were playing candy instruments like candy drums, candy guitars and I had a candy mic, too. So it's lots of fun."
The young Winnipegger rose to stardom earlier this year when her cover of Lady Gaga's hit Born this Way was noticed by the superstar. Aragon sang the hit with Gaga herself and was featured on the Ellen Degeneres show.
This past summer, Maria travelled to the Philippines where she recorded an album, and it's now available on iTunes.
Maria will also be singing and auctioning off a bowl at the 'Empty Bowls Celebrity Auction' this Thursday for Winnipeg Harvest.
