The 6th annual Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards applauded the first round of winners at the RBC Ohshkii Awards Night.
The event took place Thursday evening November 3rd at Fort Garry Place in Winnipeg with emcees Lisa Meeches and Ray St. Germain.
Winnipeg's Most brought home the most hardware this time around, including Best Group; Best Producer/Engineer; Best Music Video for All that I Know and Best Album Cover Design for GoodFellaz.
Overall, Manitobans stood out in 8 of the 12 categories.
Little Hawk soared to the top for Best Folk/Acoustic CD with Vigilance.
Mark Morrisseau from St. Francois Xavier shone in the Best Fiddle CD category for his collection of Favourites.
Vince Fontaine's Songs for Turtle Island was voted as the Best Instrumental CD and Best Rock CD went to Bruthers of Different Muthers for Speakers of Tomorrow.
The Manito Ahbee Festival celebrates and showcases Aboriginal music, art and culture, with the 6th annual festival taking place in Winnipeg from November 2nd to 6th. Manito Ahbee - which means 'where the Creator sits' - honours a sacred site in Manitoba's Whiteshell Provincial Park where Aboriginal people have gathered for hundreds of years to share teachings and wisdom.
