Winnipegger Brent Parkin has been playing the blues for 40 years and has performed on the same stages as B.B. King, Johnny Winter and Otis Rush, He's considered a veteran on the Canadian blues scene and has established himself South of the border as well.
The blues is all about the sadness and happiness in our lives and everything in between. Brent Parkin has ridden the rollercoaster of life in a way only a few people in the world have experienced. After succumbing to cardiac arrest and not breathing, Brent was brought back to this world. It changed his life and the music he creates.
Brent dropped by The (204) Studios to share his story with host Rosanna Deerchild. He appears on the (204) segment Sing & Tell Saturday, October 15th from 5 to 6:00 p.m.on CBC Radio One.
Brent's most recent album Vintage Rhythm is nominated for the Western Canadian Music Awards for Blues Recording of the Year. The awards will be given out on October 22nd in Whitehorse.
