Robert Wilson got lucky. He turned his life of poverty into a gift - a gift that keeps on giving. Better known now as Fresh IE, he took that gift and turned it into a dream. It's a dream that he continues to live and one that fuels the dreams of others, just like him.
With his first commercial project Red Letterz, Fresh IE became the first rapper to get nominated for a Grammy. Then, his next project - Truth Is Fallin in the Streetz, garnered him another Grammy nomination.
Fresh IE and his band The Unashamed performed in front of 80,000 people at the 2010 Olympics. He continues to produce his songs, and performs at festivals, prisons and First Nations Reserves.
A mere ten years into his career, he has just been nominated for 8 -- count 'em 8 Candian Dove Awards (Canadian Gospel Music Association). His most recent recording, Death of a Rapper, is up for rap/hip-hop album of the year. Two songs from Vanity and White Flag collection were nominated for rap/hip-hop song of the year and two other songs, Struggle and Remember David, are in the running for urban soul song of the year.
