Touring Western Canada is as varied as the topography - "smooth sailing" down new prairie highways, then frustrating halts for roadwork; gazing with awe at looming Rockies, then handling hair-raising twists and turns through the mountains, with some misdirection down dead-end roads...However, there's always beauty in the wilderness and unique "energy" to draw upon in every city.
Hauling merchandise, a PA, five weeks of gear - into venues, out of venues... All this, after months of preparations - booking shows, emailing media, finding lodging, budgeting, designing graphics for promo materials, mailings, ordering merchandise, applying for grants, working the day job, preparing home for a lengthy departure, tuning-up the car, rehearsing (ironically the hardest thing to put at the top of the list). We left with high hopes for a good return. After all, we had definitely put in the work.
