During the year 2009, a couple basement jams had occured consisting of Alex, Anna, Ben and Tom and it was eventually decided that we would become a metal band.
That winter we got together for the first time as a band and our first vocalist, Rob, had joined then aswell. We played our first gig in Whitemouth, along with the mystery member named Steve Gym on bass and it was an awesome show, even though we only had a three song setlist then. We played another show with a couple more songs and we were on our way.
It was now 2010 and the next few months of the year consisted of some line-up changes. Rob parted ways with the band and Anna took the lead on vocals, Steve Gym mysteriously disappeared, and we got a new bassist named Kris. Our writing continued, we experimented with songs on Alex's eight track, filmed videos for our youtube, and we played several shows in and around the town of Pinawa. We took a day trip to a studio to record some of our songs titled, "Tides of Darkness" and "Unknown(Intro)" which were posted on our myspace.
The spring brought more songs and more shows including one of our favorite shows at Partyfestapalooza in Pine Falls and a battle of the bands in Oakbank. Rockawa was organized that June where several local bands played at the community center in Pinawa.
During the summer, we jammed a couple of times and began to record our debut demo/EP. Approximatley half of the CD was tracked that summer. We also started making band deckels as our first small means of merchandise.
That fall we had to go through with another line-up change as Kris had to part ways with us to follow his education. Cody joined the band and we started wrtiting a couple more songs. We then started to make t-shirts and hoodies for merch which were sold at our shows. Rockawa 2 was organized by our lead vocal/keyboardist Anna. The funds from that show went towards the charity for cancer care in Pinawa. Several bands from the area and Winnipeg returned again and the turnout was great.
That winter we finally got to get back to the recordings at the studio and we slowly chipped away at it again. 2011 came and a line-up change occured again. Drew was inducted into our band to play guitar while Tom would bring stability to our low end by playing bass. Our sound was now better than ever and we continued to jam and write ideas here and there. Things seemed to be going great for our music. We got a little bit more done on our CD and posted a complete song called Burn onto our myspace. Our next show was to be a semi-final battle of the bands organixed by T.J.'s Gift Foundation in Winnipeg. We placed second out of 19 bands in that round. Got a free professional photshoot out of that and the got a chance to play at the finals which were held at the Garrick theatre. We played our songs and placed second out of the top seven. We were very thankful for this opportunity to share our music.
For now, we will be attempting to finish our CD for everyone and awesome new merch will be released in the near future.
