(Jonas Save Us)
In late 2007, classmates Spencer Giesbrecht (guitar) and Luke Thiessen (bass) began playing really bad covers with an old friend of Spencer's, Jonas Brandt (drums). After several months of this, and the quick realization that these covers were not turning out very well, the group was abandoned.
Reforming in fall of 2008 and adding mutual friend Scott Jodoin (keyboards, trombone), the group decided to write an original song for the school talent show. Enlisting the help of Jonas' friend Matt Dueck, who had never before sung anything, the group wrote and performed their song. The performance went rather poorly, but spirits were high, and the group continued to write music together, soon breaking into the local music scene and performing occasionally in Steinbach and Winnipeg.
Their self-titled debut album was released on January 15th, and the band is currently writing music for the next release.
