These boots were certainly made for something (Julie Moe)
Lindi Ortega is bringing her red cowboy boots and even redder lipstick to the Park Theatre for a show with Dustin Bentall on Valentine's Day.
So SCENE asked her to share a very specific Playlist, let's just call it a soundtrack for whatever Valentine's Day activities you might be planning. Here's what she came up with:
"Sexual Healing" by Marvin Gaye
From his smooth vocals to those fine lyrics "I'm hot just like an oven," if this song don't get you in the mood for love and a little hanky panky then I'm not sure what will.
"Cry To Me" by Solomon Burke
This may speak to my youth and expose my love of the fine '80s film Dirty Dancing, but I don't care...I admit it...I loved that movie. The scene where Baby and Johnny were dancing half nekkid in the lake house all dirty 'n' stuff. This song makes me nostalgic for my youth and also makes me wanna do a little dirty dance of my own.
"Cupid" by Sam Cooke
There is no song better for Valentine's Day than this one right here. Sam's smooth as silk vocals and the romance of the era are captured in the arrangement. Valentine's Day is all about hearts and arrows right? So this is the soundtrack to that stuff for sure!
"The First Time Ever I Saw your Face" by Johnny Cash
I know this is a cover but it's so brilliantly done. This is the version that really moves me. I'm a huge fan of Johnny Cash so he can do no wrong...but he sure does a whole lotta right in this tune. I figured if someone was ever crazy enough to marry me, this song would be playing during the first dance!
"Kiss" by Prince
Every Valentine's playlist needs a song about kissin'! Prince is a legend and this is a super sexy tune!
Lindi Ortega plays February 14 the Park Theatre with Dustin Bentall. Happy Valentine's Day!
