If you need a last minute gift for a music lover on your list and are
also trying to pick a charity to donate to over the holiday season - we
have the answer.
Local record label Head in the Sand is in the
midst of a fundraising program for Osborne House, an emergency shelter
for women and children experiencing domestic abuse.
Falk is the man behind the drive, and says when he heard the shelter
had been denied $450,000 in core funding, he wanted to help.
known several kids that have gone through Osborne House, and have seen
what domestic violence can do to a family. When I heard that Osborne
House had been denied funding, this was a no-brainer," he said.

Petkau Falk bundled eight albums from his label's roster, music by
Royal Canoe, Rococode, Les Jupes, Demetra, Tom Keenan, Record Of The
Week Club, Mike Petkau and The Liptonians.
Cost for the bundle is $50, with all of the proceeds going to Osborne House.

have a bunch of the albums order the package just to make a donation.
Lots of people have come out of the woodwork to support it, and that's
been really beautiful to see."
Petkau Falk says his goal is to
sell 40 of the bundles for a total of $2000. And even he was surprised
by how generous the musicians were with donating their own work.
I approached our musicians about this, I offered it to them in two
ways: a) The musicians keep $10 or $20 and we donate the rest or b) We
donate all $50. Every single band enthusiastically supported giving all
$50. That was pretty awesome of them all, and rather heartwarming."
