And then there were seven.
One more contestant, 17 year old Julia Gartha, was the latest hopeful eliminated from CBC-TV's reality competition, Over the Rainbow.
Winnipeg's Colleen Furlan, 19, is still in the running for the title role of Dorothy in an Andrew Lloyd Webber stage production of The Wizard of Oz.
Last week, her family, friends and a couple hundred supporters held a rally at the University of Manitoba which was taped for the show. Furlan's mother, Gaelyn McGregor, said she can't believe the support her daughter is getting.
"It's incredible. There are young children bringing out different colours of chalk and drawing rainbows, saying 'vote for Colleen.' There are children making cakes, and watching the TV show on Sundays in honour of her. It's amazing," she said.
Over the Rainbow airs Sunday and Mondays nights on CBC Television.
