The Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival hit record attendance this year, making 2013 its biggest ever.
169 companies performed 1,410 shows in 32 venues, down 53 performances from 2012's 25th anniversary season.
"The fact that we were able to not only maintain, but surpass the record we set at last year's 25th anniversary Fringe shows that Manitobans have a real passion for the festival," executive producer Chuck McEwen says.
Ticketed performances hit 101,488, beating last year's total of 100,621. Despite some rainy weather, daily attendance records also increased, breaking previous records seven out of the 12 days.
