Music teacher Maryka Chabluk packs about a dozen pavilions into a whirlwind hour, including a First Nations jingle dance, German counting song and Korean fan dance.
Kids in the audience get plenty of chances to take part. Some dress up as butterflies or crocodiles, some hold signs or wave flags and march. And everyone is encouraged to shout "proud to be Canadian!"
With so many kids doing so many things the show could easily descend into chaos, but Chabluk keeps things firmly in control. She gives everyone their marching orders and keeps every toe in line.
At Friday's performance, a three-year-old girl danced while learning to say "thank you" in Japanese. An 11-year-old boy extolled the virtues of borscht in Ukrainian. And a 10-year-old Filipino boy rocked out to the traditional Jewish folk song "Hava Nagila".
It's a small world after all!
