Company: Puppy in Pants Productions, Winnipeg, MB
Venue: 6 - Tom Hendry Theatre at the MTC Warehouse
The pendulum swings too far between genuinely funny and clever on one hand, and extremely puerile, vulgar and lame on the other.
As with any sketch comedy show, a little unevenness is to be expected.
That said, the pendulum swings a bit too far for my taste from the genuinely funny and clever use of design, staging and puppetry in some scenes, to the extremely puerile use of vulgarity and lame homosexual innuendo in others.
The show was right up the alley for many of the audience on Thursday afternoon, several obviously familiar with the style and substance of Puppy in Pants Productions.
For me, the few bits that made me laugh and want to like the show were insufficient to redeem the dreadful bits. It could fairly be described as "wacky" for those who like wacky.
