If the Winnipeg Fringe crashed into a science fair, the mess would look a lot like Hot Core. In this one-hour debacle, a group of young actors pace around the stage in lab coats and utter incomprehensible lines like "When can I go over the disaster situation scenarios to make sure everything is calibrated?"In "Hot Core", it's hard to tell what the hell is going on.
—Kaj Hasselriis
The disaster
here is that absolutely nothing makes sense. Hot Core seems to be about a
group of scientists who work for a dubious clean energy company called
Regeonew, but apart from that it's hard to tell what the hell is going
on.
Occasionally, some of the nerdy lines are kind of cute ("Brains
aren't meant to be shared, except at a zombie potluck") but the acting
and direction are so flat that nothing stands out.
These science geeks need to brush up on their theatre lessons before they step back on stage.
