Bucko has a good sense of social commentary
If you could somehow stick Bucko
into a time capsule, it would be a perfect reflection of contemporary Canadian life circa 2013.
Comedy duo Aaron Merke and Lauren Cochrane have created a series of no-carb, gluten-free sketches about our smoothie and smartphone-obsessed lives.Bucko
starts dry and stays that way throughout the show, as Merke and Cochrane calmly skewer everything from pretentious book readings to people who can't stop taking selfies. The funniest sketch is about a power couple micro-managing their sex life with charts and graphs.
There are also videos, but apart from the one that focuses on a video game widow, they don't really work. Overall, Bucko
is a bit too underplayed. The performers are so laid-back that it's hard to hear them. But Merke and Cochrane have a good sense of social commentary and hopefully they'll come back with more.
