Apocalypse Clown struggles to get more than the occasional snicker
About three quarters of the way through Apocalypse Clown!
, star Xan Scott turns to the audience and speaks one of her only lines: "Are you with me?"
Judging from the tepid applause, not really.
As the main clown in this slightly racy two-clown sketch show, Scott strips, pops pills and pulls household items out of her cleavage. But she's not particularly charismatic and struggles to get much more than the occasional snicker from the crowd.
is made up of three mime-y vignettes, the highlight being a macabre take on Romeo and Juliet
(with Tom Spangenberg in the Romeo role). The costumes are cute and the canned soundtrack (with everything from "Eye of the Tiger" to "I'll Fly Away") is catchy. It's just not that entertaining.
Thankfully, Apocalypse Clown!
clocks in at only 45 minutes, not the hour that's promised in the program.
