This is a good, strong production worth seeing.
This intense drama about two Chicago policeman, friends since
kindergarten and now partners, offers some fine acting.
Joey and Denny
are such strong characterizations and the actors have such command of
their material that seeing A Steady Rain
is worth the bleak sense of
desolation that might threaten to follow.
One could emerge thinking
everyone who deserved comeuppance gets it, and yet there is an
existentialist cyclical feel a la Terry Gilliam's Brazil
was awkward; the men's transitions from scene to scene were not smooth,
and some of the projected imagery simply did not work as they might have
hoped. The sound cues were frequently too loud and overwhelmed the
dialogue on several occasions. These failings can be fixed.
