Chase Padgett is some kind of guitar playing fool.
— Michelle Palansky
Chase Padgett is some kind of guitar playing fool. While strumming with great facility, he switches between six genres of music, six different characters, chats warmly with audience members, and then turns those conversations into improvised songs. Dude has serious performing chops.
Each persona both embodies the stereotypes of his genre and rises above them with thoughtful insights into life and love. There's plenty of laughs too, and jazz seems to bear the brunt of the ribbing. As the country singer quips, "Just play G. If you're chord has a number in it, you're a jerk."
Padgett concludes by gathering his six distinct strings (genres, characters) together to form a harmonious whole. It's kind of corny but sweet too. His message is simple - no music is better than other music and no people are better than other people either.
Except for Chase Padgett himself, who is clearly a superior type of alien being transported to Earth to deliver some fine Fringe fare. See this show.
