The message of She Has a Name will definitely stick with you, but you might want to make sure your next show is a comedy.

She Has a Name is a play that is well performed, tells an important story...and is horrendously depressing.
Playwright Andrew Kooman introduces us to Jason, a lawyer who has gone undercover to build a case against a pimp who is trafficking underaged girls into a brothel in Bangkok. He forms a bond with one girl, referred to as Number 18, and hopes to save her from her miserable existence while gathering enough evidence to shut the place down. The talented cast tackles the material admirably, and the 90-minute runtime also goes by fairly smoothly.
But the problem is that as you're sitting there watching, you know that disaster is coming and nothing any of the characters do or say can stop it. That means there's no surprise, there's no real tension, the audience just watches the characters sink deeper and deeper into a
mess they can't possibly escape from. The message of She Has a Name will definitely stick with you, but you might want to make sure your next show is a comedy.
