Performer Tara Travis grabs the attention of her audience immediately. With funny walks and silly faces, a little girl who yearns to be graceful bounds onto the stage. Unfortunately, Lavinia also happens to be an eight-foot-tall eight-year-old.
The world doesn't fit someone her size, so she crashes through the floor in her house and when her imagination takes over during chores, she inadvertently destroys her neighbourhood. Much giggling in the audience follows.
Imagining ballet class will fix all her problems, Lavinia can't cope when she is laughed out of the school and runs away. And unfortunately, this is where the show takes a bit of a turn. In Lavinia's mind she does battle with some tiny crab creature to defeat an evil force and free a golden bird. I'm sure it's all very metaphorically sound, but was a bit confusing, and this little show within a show felt like an unwelcome diversion, unnecessarily complicating her eventual triumph.
