Angela Heck gets Bookmarked (Ivan Hughes)
Angela Heck is in the midst of producing BUZZ, a documentary about mosquitoes and the
cultural, economic and psychological impact of the critters on
Heck has more than 20 years experience as a producer, special event coordinator, publicist, and writer with a background in film, television, music, and sports.
She is currently president of Fringe Filmworks, Inc. in Winnipeg. She and her husband Ivan Hughes relocated Fringe Filmworks Inc. from B.C. to Manitoba in late 2010.
Since it's mosquito season, SCENE asked Angela if she was reading anything else besides How to Shoot a Mosquito (pardon the pun):
I'm currently re-reading Carol Shields' The Stone Diaries, a decision made after stumbling upon the labyrinth built in her honour while walking my dog in King's Park in Fort Richmond.
I'd first read it when I was a grad student at the University of Victoria and had just moved out there from Winnipeg. It must have been about 1994. I'd been in her play Departures and Arrivals that premiered at the Blackhole Theatre at the University of Manitoba so it seemed cool that a former prof had just written a book where my home province was featured.
