Bookmarked: Winnipeg's RoseAnna Schick recommends "Persuasion"

RoseAnna Schick gets fired up when she helps others realize their potential.  She comes by this honestly.  As a freelance writer she knows what it's like to sell her work and meet deadlines.

She also offers publicity and promotional services to the arts and entertainment industry, tourism sector, and Manitoba's Aboriginal community.

Throughout the month of February, RoseAnna has been Mentor in Residence, as part of the Aboriginal Music Program.

When she's not busy mentoring or writing or promoting, RoseAnna likes to train at the Winnipeg Rowing Club, curl, play ice hockey, and explore the wilderness.

She also loves to read.  SCENE asked RoseAnna what was on the top of her reading pile:

I usually have a few books on the go at the same time. Right now I'm into Excuses Begone! by Dr. Wayne Dyer, and I really enjoy his books. This one is about how to change lifelong self-defeating habits, which I think everybody has. In fact, if you don't think you have any, then I encourage you to read this book - because I guarantee you'll find an excuse that fits you too!

The second book on my night table is called Persuasion by Arlene Dickinson. She's from the CBC series Dragon's Den. I've always admired her on that show, so when I saw that she wrote a book, I had to buy it. (Note: I still buy real books, and do not have an e-reader!) I like that she is a straight-forward thinker, and through her book, teaches practical principals for improving general communication as well as negotiation skills. She is an inspiration to business women, and I'd love for her to be my mentor!
