Everyone likes a good story, so why don't you share one with us?
It's easy; create a word-picture of something you know and love by beginning with the words: " I know..." It might be a description of your old home, your new baby, your pet, a favourite meal... anything you want to paint a picture of, with words.
We ask because we are launching a contest where you could win Laurel Croza's I Know Here
-- a book about a young girl facing the dilemma of picking up her life and moving from Northeastern Saskatchewan to Toronto -- along with all four other nominees from the TD Canadian Children's Literature Award
The TD Canadian Children's Literature Award was created in 2004 to celebrate the most distinguished books of the year written by Canadian authors for children ages 1 through 12. The winning book is marked by conspicuous excellence and/or eminence, individually distinct, and noted for significant achievement with excellence in quality.
Author Laurel Croza and illustrator Matt James share the prestigious 2011 nomination along with fellow Canadian kid's lit selections Canadian Railroad Trilogy
by Gordon Lightfoot, Burn
by Alma Fullerton, The Glory Wind
by Valerie Sherrard, and Plain Kate
by Erin Bow.
As part of the award celebrations both Laurel Croza and Matt James will be in Winnipeg meeting with over 100 grade three students to discuss the book.
The best story will win all 5 nominated books, so make it a good one.I Know Here author Laurel Croza (TD Book Club)
