Coming soon: CBC Manitoba on Google+

Google+ is actually just what the title implies. It is Google plus all of the things you don't immediately think of when you think of Google, yet use daily: Gmail, YouTube, Messaging, Reader, Blogger, Picasa, Talk, Voice, Places, Android, Calendar, etc...

All of those apps are, or will eventually be, integrated into one service. Google also recently changed its search algorithm update with the point to bring all of your content into one place; and it now integrates a few Google+ results into the search engine results pages.

Is Google+ like Facebook? No, because the relationship model of Google+ is much more like it is in real life. Google+ is important because it is influential, greatly expanding your ability to influence the world around you. If that's important to you, you should maybe look into creating an account.
