WALK FOR LIFE
A determined group of First Nations youth embark on a 4000km walk across Canada in a brave effort to raise awareness of the tragic problem of teen suicide.
"I've thought about suicide. Who hasn't...?" - Nancy, 18
It's an unspoken tragedy. Teen suicide is claiming lives in all across the country; and a brave group of First Nations youth from BC is tired of it.
So they're walking across Canada, over 4000km from their homes in BC all the way to Ottawa, in an effort to raise awareness of a tragic trend that's taking the lives of their friends and families.
Her wrists scarred from past suicide attempts, Elyse vows to leave her alcohol problems behind her. Her older brother Reno is by her side, helping and hoping she will keep her promise. Right in step are Nancy, Charlotte and Emily - walking for the friends they have lost, and for their futures.
They pass through dozens of communities sharing their stories, and their belief that nobody should face depression, alcoholism or suicidal thoughts alone. It's an exhausting and emotional trip, but they all know how important it is.
They're hand-delivering a message to the Prime Minister: suicide is silently killing our native youth - do something about it.
