Ragged Mane win Cape Breton Searchlight

John Stephenson

We asked you to find the best new musical act in Cape Breton and you chose Ragged Mane to represent the island against musicians from across Canada in CBC's Searchlight contest.

At stake are thousands of dollars in gear, being named Canada's best new act, and a gig at the CBC Festival!

Ragged Mane is a 6-piece band originating from Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Their genuine indie-folk song writing gently wraps together twisting lyrics and driving instrumentation composed of guitars, stand up bass, mandolin and violin. With influences ranging from blues to indie-folk matched with versatile vocals, their music is sure to tug at heartstrings.

Their debut album "Five Nights" combines east coast authenticity, addictive melodies and alluring poetry that ensnares the hearts and ears of listeners. Using sensitive imagery and solid orchestration, the band members compel every song to life.
