The New Orleans Saints announced on Wednesday the signing of Marcus Ball, who spent the past two seasons with the Toronto Argonauts.

The Saints said it was a three-year deal that was struck with the safety. Contracts in the NFL are not guaranteed, however.

Ball, who turns 27 in July, was part of Toronto's championship team in 2012. In two seasons with Toronto, he recorded 142 tackles, seven sacks, four interceptions and three fumble recoveries. He returned two of the four picks for touchdowns.

Ball, who played collegiately at Florida State and Memphis, was technically released by the Argos in February.
