Mark Mihal’s golf game ended abruptly when a 5-metre-deep sinkhole opened up on the fairway of the 14th hole and swallowed him. Mihal was pulled to safety but others have not been so lucky. The Annbriar Golf Club sinkhole in Waterloo, Ill., is just one of many sinkholes that have appear around the world in recent years.
