
Defending overall World Cup champion Sarah Hendrickson of the United States scored a narrow victory over Sawra Takanashi of Japan in a women's ski jump World Cup in Hinterzarten, Germany on Saturday.
Hendrickson came from behind to post her second victory of the season after Sochi, Russia, in December. She was 0.2 points behind Coline Mattel of France in the first heat, then produced the longest jump of the second series by soaring 98.5 metres to win with 243.6 points.
Takanashi had the longest jump of the day at 99 metres in the first round and moved up one place to second with her second jump of 98 metres to collect 242.4 points. Mattel dropped to third at 240.4.
Takanashi remains in the lead overall, 139 points ahead of Hendrickson.
Calgary's Alexandra Pretorius was the top Canadian, finishing 10th with 221.1 points and Atsuko Tanaka, also from Calgary, was 15th with 215.1 points.
