The Toronto Argonauts signed veteran offensive lineman Wayne Smith on Tuesday.

Smith signed a deal through the 2014 season with Toronto.

"The opportunity to play for the Argonauts and contribute in any way I can to the success of the team is exciting," Smith said in a statement. "Toronto is headed in the right direction and there are a lot of great players in the locker room on both sides of the ball.

"Playing and living in this community is also very important to me as I have a lot of great relationships here. I've dedicated myself this off-season to training and after dressing in all 20 games last year I feel great and I'm ready to compete."

The six-foot-two, 305-pound Smith spent last season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who selected Smith first overall in the 2004 CFL Canadian college draft.

The 32-year-old Smith also spent time with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, earning a Grey Cup ring with the club in '07.
