Grow-op busted in Canoe Cove

Island RCMP seized 25 marijuana plants and three illegal guns from a greenhouse grow-op in Canoe Cove Wednesday.

Police said they were acting on a tip they received from the public in the spring.

"Our investigators were successful in executing the search warrant and seizing 25 marijuana plants at various stages, but fairly large plants that were basically mature and capable of producing marijuana bud," said Sgt. Andrew Blackadar.

"They also seized three long guns: two .22-calibre fire arms and one shot gun that were, I guess, stored illegally on the property."

Growing equipment and paraphernalia were also seized.

Blackadar said the man who lives in the home was out of province when the property was searched.

The investigation continues and charges are pending.
